Marketplaces and guilds are the two major components in the next phase of Spellborne. While marketplaces allow players to buy and sell items, guilds foster community and collaboration. Together, they form the core of Open Markets.
Kenta the Trader
On their journey through the ever-expanding map of Spellborne, players may need to return to the nearest town to buy or sell items.
However, this can be challenging: the second marketplace after Yorokobi Town (the location where players begin) is in Isogashi City—approximately six locations (or routes) away.
To solve this problem, we're introducing Kenta the Trader, a character who will be found in every battle route throughout the map. The twist is that the marketplaces accessible via Kenta on different routes will be controlled by different guilds at different times.
Note: Battle routes refer to locations where players encounter wild monsters, such as Sunshine Trail, Broken Bridge, Mondo Swamp, and others.
Guilds can use this system to generate revenue by charging a small additional fee on top of the base 3% marketplace fee, limiting listings to their guild members, and conducting primary sales of custom skins.
Marketplaces and Bidding
To take control of a marketplace, guilds must submit blind bids in a blind auction. The guild with the highest bid will control that marketplace for one week.
The prices for different routes depend on their popularity, which can change over time. This creates a dynamic pricing and control system.

Listing Fees
While the primary marketplaces charge a 5% fee on all listings, guild marketplaces will have a base fee of 3% plus the fee set by the controlling guild.
Marketplace fees are split into different pools, used for purposes such as the development fund, the game fund, and managing sudden price changes within the marketplaces. Guild fees are sent directly to the guild's treasury wallet.
Cosmetic Sales
Guilds can sell custom skins, emojis, and other cosmetics via their guild marketplace. All cosmetics must be approved by the development team in advance.
Proceeds from these sales go directly to the guild's treasury wallet.
Limited Listings
Listings in guild marketplaces are limited to guild members, so only members of that guild can sell items there.
Guild marketplaces are targeted to go live later this summer.
